关于此场馆

The Hôtel des Invalides stands on the south bank of the Seine as one of Paris's most commanding architectural statements. Commissioned by Louis XIV and designed by Liberal Bruant, with the gilded Dôme des Invalides completed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the complex was built to house wounded and veteran soldiers of the French army. That founding purpose shaped everything from its vast cobbled courtyard to the austere corridors of its former hospital wings.

Today the site is home to the Musée de l'Armée, one of the largest military history collections in the world, spanning medieval armour, Napoleonic campaigns, and the two World Wars. At its centre, beneath the soaring gilded dome, lies the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte, set within a circular crypt and enclosed in a sarcophagus of red quartzite from the Vosges. Skip-the-line tickets for Napoleon's Tomb and the Army Museum allow visitors to move directly into the collections, making the most of a site whose scale and historical weight reward unhurried exploration.
