The National Pantheon stands in the Alfama district of Lisbon, occupying the former church of Santa Engrácia, a baroque monument whose construction stretched across more than three centuries before its completion in 1966. The building's vast white dome is one of the most recognisable features of the Lisbon skyline, visible from the Tagus and from many of the city's hills. Inside, the space serves as a place of national memory, housing the cenotaphs of figures central to Portuguese history and culture, among them Vasco da Gama, Luís de Camões, and the fado singer Amália Rodrigues.

The pantheon's interior is defined by its soaring rotunda, polychrome marble floors, and the gallery that runs around the base of the dome, offering panoramic views across the rooftops of Alfama and the river below. Visitors can explore the permanent collection of monuments and funerary art that traces Portugal's relationship with its own past. The National Pantheon of Portugal experience gives access to this singular building and its place at the centre of the country's civic and cultural identity.
