Teatro La Fenice is one of the most celebrated opera houses in the world, standing on the Campo San Fantin in the Sestiere di San Marco. Its name, meaning "The Phoenix", reflects a history of destruction and rebirth: the theatre burned down twice, in 1836 and again in 1996, and was each time reconstructed to its former splendour. The current building, reopened in 2003 after the most recent fire, faithfully restores the ornate nineteenth-century interior, with its gilded tiers, painted ceilings, and red velvet that made La Fenice a benchmark of Italian opera house design. Verdi premiered Rigoletto and La Traviata here, and the theatre has long been central to the cultural life of Venice and to the wider operatic tradition.

Visitors can explore this extraordinary building through a guided tour, moving through the auditorium, the royal box, and the grand foyer to understand both the architecture and the remarkable story behind it. The tour offers a rare opportunity to see one of Europe's most storied stages at close quarters.
