About Borghese Gallery: Reserved Entrance
The Borghese Gallery is a fine art museum in Rome, housed in the Villa Borghese Pinciana, a 17th-century mansion built between 1613 and 1625 for Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The collection spans ancient Roman sculpture, Renaissance painting, and Baroque work, with pieces by Caravaggio, Titian, Raphael, Canova, and Bernini gathered under one roof. The villa sits within the larger Villa Borghese gardens, one of the largest public parks in Rome, and the gallery holds around 20 rooms across two floors.
The permanent collection includes Bernini's Apollo and Daphne, Canova's Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix, and Caravaggio's Boy with a Basket of Fruit, among other well-documented works. Visitor numbers are capped per two-hour time slot, which keeps the rooms uncrowded and allows close viewing of the sculptures and canvases.
What to expect
Reserved entrance tickets give access to the full gallery without queuing at the door. Assistance is provided at the meeting point at Piazzale del Museo Borghese, where staff help direct visitors to the entrance. A guided tour and audio guide are not included, so visitors explore the collection independently. The gallery is arranged across the ground floor, which focuses on sculpture, and the upper floor, which holds the painting collection. Note that the building does not currently offer wheelchair access.
