The Palais Royal and Passages Couverts Audio-Guide App is a self-paced walking tour of central Paris, combining the formal gardens of the Palais-Royal with three of the city's best-preserved 19th-century covered passages. The Palais-Royal itself dates to 1633, built for Cardinal Richelieu, and its arcaded gardens became one of the most fashionable public spaces in pre-Revolutionary Paris. The tour runs for approximately one hour and is delivered via the Rewind application on your smartphone, starting at 2 Rue de Montpensier.

From the gardens, the route continues into the covered passages: Galerie Vivienne, Passage des Panoramas, and Passage Jouffroy. These glass-roofed arcades, built between the 1790s and 1840s, were the commercial predecessors of the modern department store and remain largely intact. Along the way, the audio commentary points out the oldest chocolate factory in Paris, a wax museum, and the former Paris Bourse. The tour is wheelchair accessible and operates on a start-and-stop basis, so visitors can pause and resume freely.
