About the venue
The Clérigos Tower rises above the rooftops of Porto as one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city. Designed by the Italian-born architect Nicolau Nasoni and completed in 1763, the tower was built as part of the Igreja dos Clérigos and stands at roughly 76 metres, making it the tallest granite tower in Portugal. Its Baroque architecture, with ornate carved stonework and a distinctive elliptical church nave, reflects Nasoni's profound influence on the character of Porto's historic centre, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Visitors who climb the tower's 225 steps are rewarded with a panoramic view across the city's terracotta rooftops, the Douro river, and the hills beyond. The Clérigos Museum, housed within the complex, explores the history of the Brotherhood of Clérigos and the artistic heritage of the church and tower through its permanent collection. Entry tickets cover access to both the tower and the museum, offering a thorough introduction to one of Porto's most enduring architectural achievements.
