O miejscu

O tym miejscu

Lobkowicz Palace stands within the grounds of Prague Castle, making it the only privately owned building in that vast complex. The palace belongs to the Lobkowicz family, one of Bohemia's oldest aristocratic dynasties, whose collection was twice confiscated during the twentieth century, first by the Nazis and then by the Communist regime, before being restored to the family after 1989. Today the palace operates as a museum displaying the family's remarkable holdings, which include original manuscripts by Beethoven and Mozart, paintings by Bruegel the Elder and Canaletto, and an extensive collection of arms and armour.

Visitors can explore the permanent collection with an audio guide narrated by members of the Lobkowicz family themselves, giving the experience an unusually personal character. The palace also hosts its celebrated Midday Concerts in a dedicated music room, where chamber performances take place against a backdrop of ancestral portraits and period decoration. The combination of fine art, musical heritage, and a setting inside Prague Castle makes Lobkowicz Palace one of the most distinctive museum experiences in the Czech capital.
