Museo Fortuny occupies the Gothic Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei in the San Marco district of Venice, a building that the Spanish-born polymath Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo made his home and creative laboratory from the early twentieth century until his death in 1949. Fortuny was a painter, photographer, stage designer, fabric inventor, and fashion pioneer, and the palazzo still carries the atmosphere of his extraordinary working life. The museum preserves his pleated Delphos gowns, his celebrated printed velvets, his theatrical lighting inventions, and a remarkable collection of paintings, sculptures, and objects he gathered over decades.

The Palazzo Fortuny is managed by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and hosts temporary exhibitions alongside its permanent displays, making each visit a distinct encounter with both the building and its evolving programme. The ornate Gothic facade and the richly layered interiors are themselves part of the experience, offering a rare glimpse into the private world of one of Venice's most singular adopted residents. Entry tickets are available for the palazzo.
