From the moment you step into Villa Alsberg — a gorgeous 1904 townhouse right on Museumplein — the contrast between the classic architecture and the bold, rebellious art inside sets the tone perfectly. It feels intentional, almost playful, as if the museum itself is winking at you. The Banksy collection alone is worth the entry. Seeing Girl with Balloon, Flower Thrower, and Laugh Now up close — not on a screen, not on a wall somewhere in the city, but right there in front of you — hit differently than I expected. These aren’t just “cool images.” In person, they carry real weight. But what surprised me most was how well the curators balanced the permanent collection with the rest of the space. The flow from room to room felt natural, never overwhelming. Each space had its own personality, and the immersive elements kept things dynamic without feeling gimmicky. The staff were genuinely warm and helpful, and the audio guide added real depth to the experience. I ended up spending nearly two hours there — much longer than I planned. If you’re visiting Amsterdam and want something that complements the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum rather than competing with them, Moco is it. It’s vibrant, thought-provoking, and surprisingly emotional. I left wanting to come back. Don’t skip it.”

Although navigating would be impossible for someone with a mobility challenge, going up and down stairs to the multiple floor exhibits was OK for me. Wide range of artists, some familiar, some not.
