Over deze locatie

The Arch of Constantine stands at the edge of the Roman Forum, between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill, marking one of the most historically charged stretches of ground in the ancient world. Erected to commemorate Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge in 312 AD, it is the largest surviving Roman triumphal arch and one of the last great monuments of imperial Rome. Its three archways are decorated with relief panels drawn from earlier monuments honouring Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius, making the structure a layered record of Roman artistic and political history.

Visiting the arch forms a natural part of any exploration of the ancient city's monumental core. Experiences available nearby include the Colosseum Underground and Arena Floor Guided Tour, which takes visitors beneath the famous amphitheatre and onto the floor where gladiatorial contests once took place, and the Colosseum Access with Virtual Reality Experience, which reconstructs the ancient arena in immersive detail.
