Parc Astérix is a theme park located roughly 35 kilometres north of Paris, built around the beloved Asterix comic series created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Opened in 1989, the park spans six themed worlds inspired by ancient Gaul, Rome, Greece, and beyond, and welcomes several million visitors each year. The Early Bird Ticket gives entry before the general crowds arrive, making it a practical choice for those wanting more time on the headline attractions.

New for the current season, the park has introduced La Tour de Numérobis, a drop tower that lifts riders 40 metres above the ground for a panoramic view across the park, and its first-ever musical at the Théâtre de Panoramix, following the characters Groupidupianix and Sérotonine through an original story rooted in the Asterix universe.

What to expect

Thrill seekers will find Toutatis, France's fastest coaster at 70 mph and 170 feet high, alongside Oziris, a looping inverted coaster, and Tonnerre 2 Zeus, a classic wooden rollercoaster that has been a park centrepiece for decades. Families can board Pégase Express, a family coaster with mythological theming, or head into the Forest of Idéfix, which groups together gentler rides suited to younger children. Across the park there are more than 40 attractions in total. Live entertainment includes stunt shows, magic shows, and character meet-and-greets with the Gaulish cast. Entry covers access to all rides, all shows, and all themed areas throughout the day. Parking is available on site at an additional cost, and skip-the-line upgrades are sold separately.

Parc Astérix and getting there

The park sits in Plailly, in the Oise department, accessible by shuttle from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport or by RER B to Aéroport CDG 1 with a connecting coach service.
