About the venue

About this venue

Villa Necchi Campiglio is one of Milan's most distinguished historic houses, a rationalist villa designed by the architect Piero Portaluppi in the 1930s for the Necchi and Campiglio families, two prominent Milanese industrial dynasties. The building stands as a rare example of refined modernist domestic architecture in the city, combining clean geometric lines with luxurious interiors that include original furnishings, decorative arts, and a celebrated collection of twentieth-century Italian paintings. The villa also features a heated outdoor swimming pool, a squash court, and landscaped gardens, all of which survive largely intact.

Now managed by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano, the house opens its rooms to visitors as a museum that preserves the atmosphere of upper-class Milanese life in the mid-twentieth century. The villa gained wider international recognition after appearing in Luca Guadagnino's 2009 film I Am Love. Entry tickets are available for those wishing to explore the architecture, the art collection, and the gardens at their own pace.
