Informazioni su questo luogo

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue is one of the most recognisable buildings in New York, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1959. Its continuous spiral ramp, rising beneath a central skylight, was a radical departure from the conventional gallery format and remains one of the defining works of twentieth-century architecture. The building itself is a National Historic Landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, drawing visitors as much for its structure as for the art within.

The museum's permanent collection spans Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early Modern, and contemporary works, with particular strengths in Kandinsky, Picasso, and the Thannhauser Collection. Entry tickets give access to the full sweep of the spiral galleries, where rotating exhibitions sit alongside the permanent holdings. The Guggenheim occupies a singular position on Museum Mile, offering an encounter with art and architecture that is inseparable from the story of New York itself.
