Informazioni su questo luogo

The Nationaal Holocaustmuseum in Amsterdam opened in 2024 in a building that once served as a teacher training college, where Jewish children from the nearby Hollandsche Schouwburg were temporarily sheltered during the German occupation. That history is inseparable from the museum's purpose. Situated in the Plantage neighbourhood, long a centre of Amsterdam's Jewish community, the museum tells the story of the persecution and murder of Dutch Jews during the Second World War through personal testimonies, photographs, documents, and objects that belonged to those who were deported.

The permanent collection traces the rise of antisemitism, the mechanics of occupation, and the devastating loss of more than 100,000 Dutch Jewish lives. Visitors enter with an Entry Ticket that provides access to the full exhibition. The museum stands directly opposite the Hollandsche Schouwburg, and together the two sites form a memorial landscape of considerable historical weight in the centre of Amsterdam.
