Wellington Arch stands at the south-east corner of Hyde Park, at the centre of one of London's grandest traffic roundabouts where Constitution Hill meets Apsley Way. Designed by Decimus Burton and completed in the 1820s, it was originally intended as a ceremonial entrance to Buckingham Palace and later served as a police station and a small prison before opening to the public as a historic monument. The arch is topped by the largest bronze sculpture in Europe, Adrian Jones's quadriga depicting the Angel of Peace descending on the Chariot of War, installed in 1912.

Visitors can climb through the interior of the arch to reach viewing platforms that offer an unusual perspective across Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, and the gardens of Buckingham Palace. The rooms inside the arch house a permanent display exploring the monument's history, from its original conception through its various uses over two centuries. Managed by English Heritage, Wellington Arch remains one of central London's most distinctive and historically layered landmarks.
