À propos du lieu

À propos de ce lieu

Tower Bridge is one of London's most recognisable structures, spanning the River Thames between Southwark and Tower Hamlets. Its distinctive Victorian Gothic towers and bascule mechanism have made it a defining feature of the London skyline since it opened in 1894, designed by Sir Horace Jones and engineer Sir John Wolfe Barry. The bridge remains a working crossing, with its twin bascules still raised regularly to allow tall vessels through, a spectacle that draws visitors from around the world.

Entry tickets give access to the Tower Bridge Exhibition, which takes visitors through the high-level walkways connecting the two towers, offering panoramic views across the Thames and the City of London. The Victorian engine rooms below house the original steam-powered machinery that once operated the bridge. Combined tours pairing Tower Bridge with the nearby Tower of London and more than thirty of the city's landmark sights are also available, making it a natural starting point for exploring this stretch of the river.
