À propos du lieu

À propos de ce lieu

The Museum of Communism in Prague traces the full arc of Czechoslovakia's communist era, from the post-war political takeover of 1948 through to the Velvet Revolution of 1989. Housed in a building on Na Příkopě, one of the city's principal commercial streets, the museum sits in a location that itself speaks to the contradictions of that period, occupying space in a district that was once a showcase for socialist ideology and is now a busy retail thoroughfare.

The permanent collection brings together original propaganda posters, secret police documents, period furniture, and reconstructed spaces including a school classroom and an interrogation room, giving visitors a tangible sense of daily life under the regime. Current admission options include a standard entry ticket and a combined ticket pairing museum entry with a guided historic communist tour of Prague, which extends the experience into the streets and squares where many of the era's defining events unfolded.
