À propos du lieu

À propos de ce lieu

The Bronx Zoo is one of the largest metropolitan zoos in the world, spread across 265 acres of woodland and parkland in the northern reaches of New York City. Operated by the Wildlife Conservation Society, it is home to more than 6,000 animals representing hundreds of species, from snow leopards and western lowland gorillas to Amur tigers and Komodo dragons. The zoo has long been a centre of conservation science as well as public education, with its Congo Gorilla Forest and Tiger Mountain among the most recognised exhibits in the country.

Set within Bronx Park alongside the New York Botanical Garden, the grounds include historic Beaux-Arts buildings dating from the zoo's earliest years alongside more recent naturalistic habitats designed to reflect the animals' native environments. Visitors can explore on foot or take the Bengali Express monorail for an aerial view of the Wild Asia exhibit during the warmer months. The Bronx Zoo remains a cornerstone of wildlife conservation in the United States and a landmark destination within New York City.
