À propos du lieu

À propos de ce lieu

The Eye Film Museum stands on the north bank of the IJ waterway in Amsterdam, directly opposite Centraal Station and reached by a free ferry crossing. Designed by the Vienna-based architectural firm Delugan Meissl Associated Architects and opened in 2012, the building is itself a striking sculptural object: its angular white form cantilevers over the riverbank, making it one of the most recognisable structures in the city. Inside, the museum holds one of the largest film heritage collections in the world, encompassing films, posters, photographs, and documents spanning more than a century of cinema history.

The permanent exhibition spaces invite visitors to explore the art and technology of moving images through interactive installations, while the museum's four cinemas screen a continuous programme of classic, restored, and contemporary films. The collection is managed in close collaboration with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. An entry ticket gives access to the exhibition floors and the building's panoramic riverside terrace, with its unobstructed views across the IJ towards Amsterdam's historic centre.
