Acerca de este lugar

The Fuente de Neptuno stands at the southern end of the Paseo del Prado, one of Madrid's grandest boulevards, where it forms a focal point alongside the Prado Museum and the Ritz Hotel. The neoclassical fountain depicts Neptune, Roman god of the sea, riding a chariot pulled by two horses, and was commissioned during the reign of Charles III as part of an ambitious programme to beautify the Spanish capital. Sculpted by Juan Pascual de Mery and later completed by José Rodríguez, the monument has become one of the most recognisable landmarks in central Madrid. It is also a place of genuine civic tradition: supporters of Atlético de Madrid gather here to celebrate the club's title victories, giving the fountain a place in the city's sporting culture as well as its architectural heritage.

The Big Bus Madrid Panoramic Night Bus Tour passes the fountain as part of a wider route through the illuminated centre of the city, offering a view of the monument and its surroundings after dark.
