Acerca de este lugar

The Igreja e Torre dos Clérigos is one of Porto's most recognisable landmarks, rising above the city's rooftops on a granite hill in the historic Bairra Alta district. Designed by the Italian-born architect Nicolau Nasoni, the church and its attached bell tower represent a defining example of Portuguese Baroque architecture. The tower, completed in the eighteenth century, served for generations as a navigational reference point for sailors entering the Douro estuary, and it remains the tallest granite structure in Portugal.

Today the complex functions as both an active place of worship and a cultural museum, housing sacred art, liturgical objects, and architectural details that trace the history of the Irmandade dos Clérigos, the brotherhood that commissioned the building. Visitors can climb the tower's helical staircase to reach a panoramic viewing platform overlooking Porto's terracotta rooftops and the river below. The venue currently presents Spiritus, an immersive light show staged within the church itself, transforming Nasoni's vaulted interior into a canvas for projected imagery and sound.
