Acerca de este lugar

Westminster Abbey stands on the north bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster, one of the most significant religious and historic buildings in Britain. A royal peculiar under the direct jurisdiction of the Crown, the Abbey has served as the coronation church for English and British monarchs since 1066, when William the Conqueror was crowned here on Christmas Day. The Gothic architecture, much of it shaped by Henry III and later by master mason Henry Yevele in the fourteenth century, draws the eye upward through soaring nave arches toward the medieval stained glass above. Poets' Corner commemorates centuries of literary giants, while the Lady Chapel of Henry VII is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of late Perpendicular Gothic in existence.

Visitors today can explore the Abbey through a standard entry ticket with audio guide, an early-access guided tour before the general public arrives, or a fuller day out combining Abbey entry with an afternoon tea and, optionally, a visit to the London Eye nearby. Each option offers a different pace through the same extraordinary interior.
