Acerca de este lugar

Lisbon Cathedral, known in Portuguese as the Sé de Lisboa, stands as the oldest church in the city and one of the most enduring landmarks on the Lisbon skyline. Founded in the twelfth century following the Christian reconquest of the city, its Romanesque facade and twin bell towers have watched over the Alfama district for nearly nine centuries. The building has been shaped by earthquakes, royal patronage, and successive waves of restoration, leaving it with a layered character that spans Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque elements within a single structure.

Inside, the cathedral holds a treasury of religious art and artefacts, a Gothic cloister where archaeological excavations have uncovered Roman and Moorish remains, and the chapel of Saint Anthony, honouring Lisbon's beloved patron saint who was born nearby. Entry tickets give visitors access to explore these spaces at their own pace, taking in centuries of Lisbon's civic and spiritual history within walls that have survived conquest, plague, and earthquake alike.
