Σχετικά με τον χώρο
La Cinémathèque Française stands in the Bercy district of Paris as one of the world's foremost institutions dedicated to the art and history of cinema. Housed in a striking building designed by Frank Gehry, its deconstructivist facade has made it a landmark of the 12th arrondissement since the institution relocated there in 2005. Founded in 1936 by Henri Langlois and Georges Franju, it holds one of the largest film archives on the planet, alongside a permanent collection of costumes, cameras, posters, and set designs that trace the full arc of filmmaking history.
Visitors can currently explore two exhibitions within its walls. The Marilyn Monroe Exhibition examines the life and screen legacy of one of Hollywood's most enduring icons through rare photographs, personal artefacts, and original costumes. The Méliès Museum pays tribute to Georges Méliès, the French illusionist and pioneer filmmaker whose fantastical silent films were produced just a short distance from Paris, celebrating his extraordinary contribution to the language of cinema.
