Sobre aquest lloc

The Dutch Resistance Museum in Amsterdam tells the story of how ordinary Dutch citizens responded to the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands between 1940 and 1945. Housed in a former synagogue in the Plantage neighbourhood, the museum uses personal diaries, photographs, forged identity papers, and reconstructed street scenes to place visitors directly inside the moral dilemmas faced by people living under occupation. The collection draws a careful distinction between those who collaborated, those who stood by, and those who actively resisted, making it one of the more nuanced Second World War museums in Europe.

The permanent exhibition follows a chronological path through the occupation years, and the museum also runs a dedicated junior section designed for younger visitors. Entry is available with an audio guide, which provides additional context for the documents and artefacts on display. The Plantage district itself carries deep historical significance, having been home to a large part of Amsterdam's Jewish community before the war.
