The harbour area retains a working character, with fishing boats alongside leisure craft, and the fish market supplies the restaurants that line the streets behind the port. Inland from the waterfront, the grid of streets around the Calle Ramón Gallud and the Plaza de la Constitución forms the commercial and social core, busy with locals in the early evening in a way that reminds visitors this is a functioning Spanish town rather than a purpose-built resort.
