Terras de Bouro sits in the northwestern corner of Portugal's Minho region, a municipality defined less by urban density than by the extraordinary natural territory it contains. The village of Vilarinho da Furna had been inhabited for centuries before its flooding, and its memory is kept in a small museum in Campo do Gerês that documents the community's way of life.
