Mellieħa occupies the northernmost tip of Malta, a position that gives it a character quite distinct from the island's more densely settled south. The town climbs a dramatic ridge above one of the Mediterranean's most celebrated sandy beaches, Mellieħa Bay, and looks out across a narrow channel of water towards the smaller islands of Comino and Gozo.
